Replacing Your Bathroom Accessories

Bathroom accessories provide the finishing touches to any new bath project. Whether you are looking for ultra-modern wall mounted accessories or more traditional counter top accessories; towel bars, soap dish, toilet paper holder, and so forth, which ties together the room's design elements.

Updating the Look of Your Bath is Quick & Simple. No matter the type of accessory; it needs to be fastened securely to the wall. Plastic inserts are driven into a hole drilled in the wall and expand when a screw is inserted; they're best for light-duty applications. Try to attach at least one mounting screw of an accessory to a wall stud. Bathroom accessories can be installed in less than two hours.

To make sure your bath looks organized and clutter-free, use your best judgment in determining the proper number or bathroom accessories for your bath. Once you have determined your style, you should then take accurate measurements of your bath. A general rule is two-to-three counter accessories, such as a toothbrush holder, cup holder and soap dish.

Many fixture manufacturers have created bathroom accessories to coordinate with their sinks, toilets, and tubs to take the guesswork out of selection. Proper ventilation is necessary to keep damp clothes and towels from mildewing. Laundry hampers come in many colors and finishes, made of several materials including wicker, vinyl and wood.

Make a Statement in Your Bath with Stylish Accessories. Once you have selected the specific finish for your bathroom, the next step is determining the style and size you prefer. You'll pick the finish, style and number of accessories to match your bathroom décor.

Protecting Home and People With Feng Shui

There are several feng shui items that can be placed in the home or on a person that are protective in nature. These items keep negative spirits away from hearth and home, making the journey through Life a little easier. If a person or place is haunted, the first thing to do is to get rid of the spirits as soon as possible (see "How to Get Rid of Noisy Spirits with Feng Shui"). During or after the eviction of the unwanted spirits, placement of certain feng shui items helps to keep the home clear of further problems.

The most effective tool this author has found is the 5-element pagoda (see previous articles on this subject for more information). This pagoda 'locks up' the negative chi that hits certain areas of the house, effectively blocking the kind of energetic changes that allow negative spirits in. Proper use and placement of the pagoda, or placement of several pagodas, does indeed stop a lot of unwanted interference.

Another handy item is the Wu Lou, which is a metal gourd-shaped object, which serves to protect the health of the person. The Wu Lou is placed at the bedside and is a representation of the carrying of medicinal tinctures. There are several types of Wu Lou, from the 8 Immortals or 8 Immortal Objects, to the Antahkarana, Tiger and Dragon, Children, and botanical. Each has a specific purpose and is used in a different area during the year and according to the astrology sign of the person.

There is a little-known object called a Master Cure, which is a slate square with carvings, upon which one places certain objects. Each year has a particular Master Cure which may be used only in certain years. The Master Cure puts a dome of White Light over the home, serving as a protective influence. This works in most cases, especially for those who have fairly normal lives. For those doing intense energy work including the opening of portals, this cure helps but is not enough...but then, most people who are able to open portals are also savvy enough to know how to protect themselves. For those innocents who open portals by using the Ouija Board...don't...you have no idea what kind of grief you can visit upon yourselves and your loved ones.

Another favorite protective item in feng shui is the Pi Yao, a unicorn dragon-dog that gathers and protects your fortune and is considered a celestial beast that amuses the evil, wrathful Spirit who hates humanity. There are different types of Pi Yao that have different functions but all are able to appease the vengeful Spirit. The Pi Yao is said to be particularly good for those who need help in controlling their finances as it protects what one has and helps to gather more.

There are also door guards like the double-horned rhinoceros and elephant, the Wind horse, Medicine Buddha, and various plaques, bells and other hangings. These items protect the entrances to the home, keeping the negative people and spirits away. Combining feng shui protective items with other protective items is a common practice. There is no problem with having statues of saints and deities alongside Asian and Hindu protective items, as long as your belief system is such that you believe they can all get along together. Whatever you decide to use in your home or work place, make it something that pleases you-if it feels good, go for it.

Tips For Buying A Used Lawnmower

These days, many people are opting to purchase a used lawnmower over a brand new one, simply because they wouldn't be able to afford one otherwise. Choosing to buy used rather than new, however, does not mean that you have to forego good quality in the model of lawnmower that you ultimately buy. Simply by doing your research and asking the right questions, you may find that purchasing a lawnmower is the best decision you have ever made.

So, what are the best places to find used lawnmowers for sale?

Online auction websites, such as eBay, are great places to begin your lawnmower search. You should, however, look for auctions that are located near to you, so that you can check out the lawnmower before purchasing and pick it up easier. Classified advertisements are also a good place to start, as you can even place an ad stating that you are looking to buy a lawnmower. As these advertisements are generally organized based on location, it's even easier to find one nearby to you. Online forums could also be a good place to check out, as many lawnmower and gardening enthusiasts may indicate that they have a mower for sale or be able to point you in the direction of someone else who does.

Once you have found a used lawnmower that you are interested in buying, you need to ask the seller the right questions to ensure that they are not trying to rip you off:

Have any parts been replaced and how much did they cost you? This will give you a fairly good idea of how much you will need to spend should the lawnmower break down, as well as give you a good idea of which parts may be on the way out. Why do you want to sell? This question can take a lot of sellers by surprise (especially if they are selling for less than honorable reasons), but often it is due to moving house or upgrading. How often does the lawnmower need to be serviced and where can I get this done? This question can immediately indicate which sellers have looked after their lawnmowers and which haven't (those that have will be able to answer you no problems). How much does the lawnmower cost to run? As well as looking at how much petrol it takes to mow a block, you should also ask about oil and any other associated costs.

Buying a used lawnmower does not mean that you will end up with an ancient, hand-powered model that will chew your lawn up and spit it out. As long as you ask the right questions and look in the right places, you can ensure that you make a good decision in a used lawnmower.
